Israeli forces carried out a series of bombings across the Gaza Strip in the early hours of Wednesday, killing over a dozen Palestinians, including a mother and a baby who was around six months old.
A Palestinian family was reportedly asleep in their home in Jabalia before Israeli shelling struck them. At least eight people were killed in the strike, including five children.
Several others were killed, including a child, while others were injured after an Israeli airstrike targeted a residential apartment in central Gaza's al-Bureij refugee camp.
At least one person was also killed in Beit Lahia, in northern Gaza.
At least 39 Palestinians have been killed in the past 24 hours, Hamas' health ministry said.
Attacks have also occurred in Gaza City, Khan Younis and Rafah, according to Palestinian media and Al Jazeera.
According to Al-Araby Al-Jadeed, The New Arab's Arabic-language sister site, Israel has rejected an Egyptian proposal for truce in Gaza, set to coincide with Eid al-Fitr, the Muslim festival which marks the end of Ramadan.
Egyptian officials told Al-Araby that the truce was approved by Hamas, and was also refused by US Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff.
Meanwhile, in Yemen, the Houthi rebels have accused the US of carrying out at least 19 strikes in the provinces of Saada and Amran.
The rebels' Ansarollah website said US warplanes carried out "aggressive air raids causing material damage to citizens' property", but gave no details of casualties.
On 15 March, the Trump administration announced a military offensive against the Houthis, promising to use overwhelming force until the group stopped firing on vessels in the key shipping routes of the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden.
