How Liverpool could still get a transfer fee for free agent Trent Alexander-Arnold

Trent Alexander-Arnold’s future remains uncertain, and Liverpool could lose one of their most talented players for free this summer.

The full-back’s contract ends on June 30, and he has yet to commit to a new deal. But despite the situation, Liverpool might still get a transfer fee if the right circumstances fall into place.

The 26-year-old, who has been with the club since the age of six, is now the vice-captain and a key part of the team.

He made his senior debut under Jurgen Klopp in 2016 and has gone on to win almost every major trophy. Yet, as his contract runs down, his relationship with some fans has become tense.

In recent months, supporters have grown frustrated by his comments and silence about his future. A remark in October about preferring to win the Ballon d’Or over another Champions League title did not sit well with many.

And his celebration against West Ham, where he made a ‘chat’ gesture, only added to the growing doubts.

Real Madrid’s plan could give Liverpool a late transfer fee for Trent Alexander-Arnold

Real Madrid are reportedly keen to bring Alexander-Arnold in before the summer ends.

They want him available for the Club World Cup in June. However, since his Liverpool deal runs until the end of June, Madrid would need to pay a fee to sign him earlier.

As reported by Lewis Steele, “Real Madrid are exploring whether they can bring forward the expected transfer of Trent Alexander-Arnold this summer so he can play for them in June’s Club World Cup. His deal does not expire until June 30 so they would have to pay to get him out of his contract early.”

This means Liverpool could still earn a small fee rather than lose him for nothing. It wouldn’t be a big amount, but it’s better than a total loss for a player of his calibre.
