Happy Wednesday, Sixers sickos! And oh, what a glorious day it is.
Although the Toronto Raptors yet again benched Scottie Barnes and Immanuel Quickley in the fourth quarter Monday night, they couldn’t out-tank the Washington Wizards, who pulled both Jordan Poole and Khris Middleton for the night late in the third quarter. Meanwhile, the Sixers finally decided to rest Quentin Grimes against the shorthanded New Orleans Pelicans and secured a crucial loss.
The Sixers are now two wins behind the Raptors with only 10 games left in the season. They still aren’t out of the woods just yet, but it’s increasingly likely that they’ll finish with one of the six worst records this year. Seeing as they owe their first-round pick to the Oklahoma City Thunder if it falls outside of the top six, every spot in the lottery standings counts.
As the lottery picture comes further into focus over these final few weeks, we’re turning more of our attention to the offseason. Last week, we answered questions about Quentin Grimes and how he affects the Sixers’ options with the mid-level exception. We also walked through their potential offseason order of operations. Now, we’re once again turning the floor over to you.
What are the biggest Sixers-related things you’re wondering about as they wind down this lost season? Either drop your question in the comments section below or send them to me on Bluesky at btoporek.bsky.social. I’ll pick out a few and answer them Thursday in our weekly mailbag.
And to spare you from asking this: The updated salary-cap projection of $154.6 million changes absolutely nothing for the Sixers this offseason. We’ve been operating with that figure all along. I’m sure we’re all thrilled for Josh Harris about his looming $11.5 million payout for (shamelessly) ducking the luxury tax at the trade deadline, though.
