Liverpool to move for Arsenal target Nico

Nico Williams has been on the Gunners’ radar since his stunning Euro 2024 campaign victory with Spain.

Chiefs and fans alike believe he could be Arsenal's answer to their problems on the left flank - although he's capable at right-wing.

Gabriel Martinelli, Leandro Trossard and Raheem Sterling have all had mixed seasons and Williams would be seen as an upgrade on all three.

But Liverpool - who could lose Mo Salah this summer - are planning to swoop in for the 22-year-old Athletic Bilbao ace.

The LaLiga club are expected to ask for at least his £50million release clause - which isn't all that bad for a player of his calibre.

Gunners linked to ex-Man City winger

Arsenal are weighing up a move for Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sane, and they could land the German on a free transfer.

Mikel Arteta knows the forward from his time as a coach at Manchester City.

Sane has scored seven goals and provided four assists in 22 Bundesliga appearances this season.

The German would give Arteta more much-needed options for his front line.

Arsenal have struggled at the top end of the pitch this season due to injuries to the likes of Bukayo Saka and Kai Havertz, which has kept them out for the large part.

Keon reckons Arsenal have already tied up new striker

Newcastle's Alexander Isak is rated Arsenal's dream strike recruit this summer - with Benjamin Sesko also high up their reported wishlist.

And Gunners' legend Martin Keown reckons boss Mikel Arteta already has ONE frontman deal in the bag.

The former England defender appears even more sure of one thing - that Arteta won't "make the mistake" of NOT signing such a world-class forward.

Keown told TNT Sports: “Sesko at Leipzig is more of a player who is easier to attain than Isak, and he’s an up-and-comer.

“I would suggest that there’s already been a player bought, and that it’s already done from an Arsenal point of view.

"They won’t be making this mistake again."

Window of change this summer?

Premier League chiefs are reportedly set to hold talks over a potential change to the summer transfer window.

Last summer the transfer window closed on August 31, 2024, and this summer it will open officially on June 12.

However, new plans could see the 2025 summer window closed on August 14, two days BEFORE the start of the 2025/26 Premier League season.

The measure, put forward in early February at a meeting between the sporting directors of Prem clubs, is not new to English football, having been introduced and later abandoned in 2018 and 2019.

Club chiefs will discuss the proposal in a meeting on Thursday, as reported by The Telegraph.

Passing the change will require a super-majority of 14 clubs, although if preliminary discussions indicate a lack of support it may be struck down before a vote.

The main argument in favour of the move is sporting directors believing the integrity of the league would be better served by stopping all trading before the season starts on August 16.

Additional discussions have proposed cutting the January transfer window down to just two weeks to minimise disruption to squads during the season.
