Abdoulaye Doucoure is out of contract at Everton at the end of the campaign but is yet to sign a new deal.
The Mali international has been a regular at Goodison Park since signing from Watford back in the summer of 2020.
This has seen the 32-year-old take up a regular role under both Sean Dyche and David Moyes in his five years on Merseyside.
It does appear that his future in L4 could be coming to an end but after the latest transfer news emerging from the Bundesliga, his stint could be set to continue with the Toffees.

Chris Rigg could turn down Everton move
There is no shortage of transfer rumours surrounding the Evertonians ahead of a move to Bramley-Moore Dock for next season.
MORE TOFFEES STORIES
The summer will represent the start of a new era and the first summer window under the ownership of Dan Friedkin, who certainly has some work to do.
That work starts before the current campaign comes to an end as the Toffees look to seek out transfer targets ahead of the window opening.
One of those appears to be Sunderland starlet Chris Rigg, who has certainly made a name for himself in the Championship this season.
At 17 years old, there is no shortage of interest in his signature as his progress continues to be tracked from Goodison Park.

Sky Sports reported on 26 March that Everton are set to face competition from Bundesliga clubs if they are to land the England under-19s international.
If the L4 club are to miss out on the teenage star, there is every chance that they could move quickly to extend the contract of Doucoure by another year.

Everton to extend Doucoure contract if Rigg makes Bundesliga switch
It could prove to make perfect sense that the former Rennes midfielder earns an extension for the new season, potentially on reduced terms.
The Toffees can’t make a rash decision and bring in another midfield option if they haven’t done their due diligence like they have with Rigg.
There is no doubt that the Black Cats star would be an excellent signing and would certainly secure the long-term future of the Toffees’ midfield alongside Tim Iroegbunam.
If the Englishman can’t be brought to Goodison during the summer and he opts into a Bundesliga move, it is an ideal decision to keep Doucoure for another year.
