Maignan is currently under contract until the summer of 2026, which means that he will be into the final year of his deal next season if he does not agree to an extension before the summer. While talks have been held at various stages of the 2024-25 season, an agreement has not been reached as of yet.
There had been suggestions earlier in the season that the Frenchman had a verbal agreement in place over a new €5m-per-season deal until the summer of 2028, but the Rossoneri have held off as they wait to appoint a new sporting director and wait for the outcomes of the 2024-25 season.

According to reports from TEAMtalk, Milan will consider selling Maignan if they do not achieve Champions League qualification. A top four finish is a big ask for the Rossoneri as things stand, as they currently sit in ninth place in the table, six points behind Bologna in fourth.
Given that Maignan will also be in the final year of his contract this summer, TEAMtalk suggest that Milan will have to accept a reduced fee for the France international if he is sold.
Wednesday’s report claims that the Rossoneri could accept a fee in the region of €40m, with both Chelsea and Aston Villa supposedly interested.
