Trent Alexander-Arnold’s Liverpool career looks to be coming to an end.
After spending his entire career at the Merseyside club, nine years of which were with the first team, the 26-year-old will not sign a new contract at Anfield once the current campaign concludes, which will allow the defender to leave the Premier League leaders for free.
Real Madrid are expected to sign Alexander-Arnold, which will see the full-back added to the list of Liverpool stars to depart Merseyside for the Spanish capital.
Liverpool fans will not be happy that Alexander-Arnold is leaving for nothing, but the right-back is not the only big star to leave Anfield as a free agent in recent years, therefore, RTK have picked out the three best players who left the Reds once their contract was up.

Steven Gerrard is widely considered the greatest Liverpool player ever and he is the obvious first inclusion in the list as the midfielder put together a stellar career at Anfield.
The Liverpool legend featured 710 times for the Merseyside club, producing 186 goals and assisting a further 145 during the 17 years he spent at Anfield.
The only major trophy Gerrard never won at Liverpool was the Premier League but the former midfield star came close in 2014 under Brendan Rodgers.
Gerrard hoped that Liverpool team would kick on the season after, however, the opposite played out as the Reds endured a miserable campaign, with the Englishman being dropped for several big games by his manager.

Roberto Firmino is one player every Liverpool fan will think of when looking back at the Jurgen Klopp era as the Brazilian was a fan favourite at Anfield having played his role in the Reds winning everything under their former German boss.
The forward was part of one of the greatest front threes ever seen at Liverpool, alongside Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, which helped the the Brazil international make 362 appearances for the Merseyside club, scoring 11 goals and assisting a further 72.
It was clear towards the end of his time on Merseyside that Firmino was slowing down and as a result, Liverpool opted not to renew his contract.
The lovable Brazilian forward left at the end of the 2022/23 season, with Firmino choosing to move to Al-Ahli in Saudi Arabia as a free agent for the next chapter of his incredible career.

Sami Hyypia is considered one of the best centre-backs to have ever played with Liverpool as the Finnish defender carved out an incredible career for himself at Anfield, quickly becoming a fan favourite.
The defender joined the Reds from Willem II in 1999 and went on to play 464 matches for the Premier League giants, scoring 35 goals and assisting a further 11.
The centre-back also won several trophies at Liverpool and similar to Gerrard, the Premier League was the only major title the Finland star missed out on.
Hyypia’s career on Merseyside came to an end in 2009 after 10 years upon the expiration of his contract with the centre-back opting to continue his playing days in Germany as he joined Bayer Leverkusen as a free agent.
