Highly regarded Leeds United transfer chief in frame to join Kinnear at Everton - The Athletic

Leeds United are seeing Angus Kinnear leave the club for Everton in a similar CEO role this summer, and Nick Hammond could join him at Bramley Moore Dock.

The 49ers have been tasked with re-shaping Leeds ever since they took over post-relegation, and there is more reshuffling on the cards in the coming months.

Leeds have already confirmed that CEO Angus Kinnear is heading out at the end of the season, lined up at Everton for a similar role to help oversee their transition to Bramley Moore Dock, and Kinnear is eyeing up some of his acquaintances from Elland Road.

As Kinnear prepares for his Merseyside move, he’s already considering bringing across another higher-up from Elland Road with him.

The Athletic have now reported that as The Friedkin Group prepare for a new era at Everton, they are looking to strengthen their recruitment team, and Kinnear is looking at bringing over Nick Hammond from his Leeds transfer consultancy role:

“At Leeds United, trading/negotiating was done by a freelance consultant, Nick Hammond, who is highly regarded by Kinnear from their time together at Elland Road,” Patrick Boyland writes. “He is in the frame for a similar role with Everton.”

Kinnear has been at Elland Road since the 49ers took over in an advisory role that was initially seen as short-term, but has since remained in place, helping the club through a number of successful signings in the Championship.

Nick Hammond a loss for Leeds on transfers, but not an unexpected one

Of course, losing someone who has been part of a very solid phase of transfer activity for the club since relegation is a blow.

That being said, the fact he was on a short-term freelance position here does suggest that the 49ers will be prepared for his exit.

He clearly wasn’t tied down here for a long-term role like many others at the club are, and they now have time to have someone lined up as a permanent replacement in the summer, should he move to Everton.
