Chelsea have entered the race for 18 year old Dutch fullback. He has been superb this season and has 8 goal contributions this season. The Blues have heavy competition from Liverpool and Barcelona.

The star in question here is Givairo Read who currently plays for Feyenoord. He is 18 years old and plays as right-back. Read has been a regular starter for Feyenoord this season and has been unstoppable. He has so far played 24 games and registered 1 goal along with 7 assists.

Chelsea join the race for Givairo Read

According to TEAMtalk, the Blues have entered the race for Read. They face competition from Liverpool and Barcelona this summer. Feyenoord have tied Read with a contract running until 2028. Hence, they have a big say in deciding his future. As of now, they are likely to demand around €25 million to €30 million.

Chelsea are pleased with the return of Reece James to full fitness. However, they are still concerned about his future due to constant injuries. In addition, Malo Gusto has not been able to impress the club which suggests new right-back can land at Stamford Bridge this summer.

On the other hand, Liverpool are set to lose their academy star Trent Alexander Arnold. Arnold is extremely close to join Real Madrid this summer. What makes it even more painful for Liverpool is the fact that he will leave for free.

Lastly, Barcelona do have Jules Kounde who is one of the best current fullbacks in the world. But, they are keen to find a proper backup for the Frenchman. In addition, player like Read will be viewed as long-term investement.

As of now, Liverpool are in desperate need to sign a right-back. Arne Slot can use his connections in Feyenoord in order to convince the 18 year old. The Dutchman was the head coach of Feyenoord before taking over Liverpool last summer.
