The Premier League title race is heating up with very few games to play. As Liverpool look to increase the gap with Arsenal.
Liverpool and Arsenal to battle out for the PL crown
The Premier League season for 2024/25 is coming to an end with Arsenal currently in second place. As has been the case for the past few seasons, they might miss out on the title again.
Manchester City have claimed the trophy past three times. But find themselves in a place of not qualifying for next season’s UCL. Liverpool have made a strong run to the top under Arne Slot in his first term at Anfield.
This past Sunday, with Liverpool playing in the Carabao Cup final, Arsenal managed to bring the gap down to 12 points between themselves and leaders Liverpool. There are only nine league games left to play.
And it would take an great series of results to revive the title race. Until that point, the Gunners could still pull off some domestic silverware. Particularly in light of recent dodgy form of Liverpool.
When will the Reds be able to claim the title?
The scenarios are straightforward. Arsenal can still reach a total of 85 points this season. And of course this will decrease as they lose points.
The Reds currently sit on 70 points and needs 16 more to win the crown. Five wins and one draw will be enough if the north London side win their next six matches.
The earliest Arne Slot’s side can become champions is April 20. And that will require Liverpool to win against Everton, Fulham and West Ham. And the Arteta side have to lose against Fulham, Everton and Brentford.
If the Gunners were to not win at Ipswich that day, then Liverpool would be confirmed champions. If Arsenal wins at Ipswich, all Liverpool would need is a draw against Leicester to win the League.
And if the results are equal after the international break, Liverpool will win the league at Chelsea during the first weekend of May. There is much football to be played, but the Reds’ future is in their hands.
