Green Bay airport looking for volunteers to “join the team” for NFL Draft week

ASHWAUBENON, Wis. (WBAY) - Green Bay Austin Straubel International Airport is looking for volunteers to help the thousands of NFL Draft visitors coming in four weeks -- including draft hopefuls and their families as well as football-loving tourists.

The airport is looking for friendly and enthusiastic people to greet travelers and make sure they know where they’re going; help them navigate the airport; and offer information about transportation, lodging and attractions in the greater Green Bay area.

The goal is to create a “seamless, welcoming experience for travelers,” the airport says.

“This will be our busiest week at GRB since the early 2000s with additional nonstop flights and added seats on our major carriers,” airport director Marty Piette said. “We want to ensure that everyone has a safe and enjoyable visit to and from the airport.”

Ambassadors can:

Help in baggage claim;

Work in hospitality areas in the concourse and greet guests at the gates;

Help guests find parking, taxis and ride shares;

Act as “runners” to share communications from airlines, car rentals, gift shop and restaurant;

and be greeters for arrivals in the fixed-base operations.

Some jobs require going through security checkpoints or working outdoors. All of the jobs are in 2- or 4-hour shifts.

Follow the links above to sign up if you’re interested in specific jobs, or email the airport at airportinfo@flygrb.com or call (920) 498-4800 (and press 5) to learn more about volunteering.

Volunteers will receive free parking, snacks, and a GRB shirt. Some volunteers will be provided badges for working in secure areas.

“The FLYGRB team has crafted a great way for you to welcome so many guests to our community in typical Midwestern fashion,” Brown County Executive Troy Streckenbach said in a statement. “If you have time to participate in such a historic way by showing off your smile and warm hospitality, please sign up to become an Austin Straubel ambassador!”
