Russell Wilson signed with the New York Giants. There doesn’t appear to be any mutual interest between the Cleveland Browns and Aaron Rodgers. Kirk Cousins, who’s familiar with head coach Kevin Stefanski from their days with the Minnesota Vikings, has a full no-trade clause, and the Atlanta Falcons haven’t shown any interest in trading the four-time Pro Bowl quarterback.
So, who will be the Browns’ QB in 2025? General manager Andrew Berry did trade for Kenny Pickett who was Jalen Hurts’ primary backup throughout the Philadelphia Eagles’ Super Bowl run, but it looks like the Browns have other plans for a starter.

The Cleveland Browns are still searching for answers when it comes to solving their quarterback problems for next season. Deshaun Watson likely won’t be a factor after re-tearing his Achilles tendon and undergoing surgery. He may not ever be a factor for the Browns again.
Thus, the Browns need to formulate a new plan to find a franchise quarterback, and they could turn to an already established three-time Pro Bowler.
In fact, Big Play’s Bruce Dennan reports that the Browns are actually currently working on a trade with the Dallas Cowboys for franchise quarterback Dak Prescott.
“I got a pretty darn good source within the Browns organization. I heard that part of the reason Myles Garrett was so willing to sign this extension for a contract, yea money. The Browns are negotiating as we speak with the Dallas Cowboys for a trade for Dak Prescott. (Greg )Newsome is part of it and draft picks. This comes from a couple of different sources. Take it for what it’s worth.”

To be fair, this feels like the type of report that comes from a family member who claims to have sources, or a random anonymous source online. Seriously, why would the Cowboys trade their franchise quarterback for a package that involves a cornerback who graded as the 177th best player at his position per Pro Football Focus in 2024, plus draft picks?
Perhaps the Cowboys have some grand plans that involve getting the second overall pick from the Cleveland Browns, where they’d select generational talent Travis Hunter and employ him as a starting receiver opposite CeeDee Lamb and as part of a cornerback trio featuring Trevon Diggs and DaRon Bland.
The Cowboys also have the 12th overall pick in the first round, which they may have to use as part of a bigger package to trade up and secure Shedeur Sanders as their franchise quarterback of the future. If it all sounds a little crazy, it’s probably because it is. Yet, crazier things have happened.
