Man Utd twin sensations captain England and Scotland during international break, it’s a truly unique situation

Twin brothers captaining two different countries during the international break – Man Utd were at the centre of a truly unique situation in this international break!

For Manchester United, this international break was all about getting players back to fitness as a gruelling run of fixtures awaits.

A positive Man Utd injury update also hinted that the same was happening, while many of their players on international duty were impressive too.

However, the story of the break has to go to the Fletcher twins at Old Trafford, who managed a unique feat in the space of a few days.

Jack and Tyler Fletcher captain England and Scotland

United academy made it a bit of a habit of breaking records this international break as James Scanlon made history with Gibraltar.

However, in terms of pure narrative value, it is borderline impossible that the Fletcher twins’ feat will be overtaken for a while, let alone this break.

On March 22, Tyler Fletcher captained Scotland U19s against Poland U19s in a proud moment for the player and his father, former United man Darren Fletcher.

Just two days earlier, Jack Fletcher, another United academy graduate, and Tyler’s twin brother captained England U18s on March 20 against Czechia.

Tyler Fletcher went on Instagram after the game and posted a simple “C” message with pictures of him in action and as captain.

Jack Fletcher did the same and his brother responded on his post with two words – “El Capitano”, while Harry Amass, who captained the next game for England vs Portugal, said, “My brother”.

Jack and Tyler Fletcher have bright futures

Even beyond this achievement which makes for a good quiz answer in the long term, the Fletcher twins have a genuine chance of playing for the Man Utd first team.

Currently, Jack Fletcher is a bit ahead of his brother but both have shown the talent and potential to eventually break through.

United’s coup of City academy to poach the Fletcher twins might go down as one of the best moves considering the trajectory they’ve both been on.

Tyler is a player in the mold of his father, a deeper midfielder who keeps the game ticking, while Jack Fletcher is more forward-thinking and increasingly making himself undeniable with boisterous displays for the academy.

United have a pair of gems in their hands and they’re already making history.
