'When I speak to the lads': Andy Carroll shares what Newcastle players always tell him about…

Newcastle United have an ‘unbelievable’ head coach in Eddie Howe.

That is the view of Andy Carroll, who witnessed the Newcastle United manager end the club’s trophy drought at Wembley on March 16th.

Newcastle beat Liverpool to win the Carabao Cup, as Eddie Howe brought silverware back to Tyneside.

Carroll celebrated with the Newcastle players afterwards, having shared a dressing room with many of them. The 36-year-old was teammates with the likes of Callum Wilson, Sean Longstaff, Joelinton and Jamaal Lascelles during Steve Bruce’s reign as manager.

Bruce was replaced by Howe, who has taken the Magpies from the depths of despair to unbelievable heights.

Andy Carroll hails ‘unbelievable’ Eddie Howe

Howe has done exceptionally well at St James’ Park, and Carroll has told Sky Sports’ YouTube channel that the Newcastle players are always full of praise for their manager whenever he speaks to them.

“Really impressed [with the job he’s done],” he said.

“Obviously what he’s done at other clubs as well like Bournemouth. I just think he is an unbelievable coach.

“When I speak to the lads at the club, they’ve all said amazing things about him. You can see that every player wants to play for him.”

Eddie Howe deserves a statue at Newcastle United

The job that Howe has done at Newcastle United should never be understated.

Sure, he has had money to spend and been able to bring in some very good players, but what he has done with those players is why he is a top class coach. On top of that, what he has done with the players he inherited is outstanding.

As Carroll says, this Newcastle United team are completely committed to Howe and his coaching staff. They all speak glowingly of Howe, publicly and privately.

And so they should. This is the man that ended Newcastle’s trophy drought. Kevin Keegan and Sir Bobby Robson did not win a trophy with Newcastle, but Eddie Howe has.

Not only that, but Howe is hoping for more trophies.

No matter what happens, Howe deserves a statue at St James’ Park in the future. He is up there with the club’s elite, a Toon legend who should be immortalised.

The Newcastle United players are very lucky to call him their manager.
