LeBron James has made waves both on and off the basketball court throughout his NBA career. While the future Hall-of-Famer is widely respected for his play, career longevity and handling of media interactions, one specific recent comment is receiving backlash.
James joined ESPN's The Pat McAfee Show on Wednesday for a segment in which he discussed a broad range of topics. This included new head coach JJ Redick, rumors regarding his tenure with the Miami Heat and owner Pat Riley and even interactions with NBA insiders.
At one point, the Los Angeles Lakers star told McAfee that ESPN insider Brian Windhorst said on a show that he's James's "f***ing best friend," and called it "weird."
However, The Athletic's Andrew Marchand replied to the clip, calling it "weak sauce" and stating that Windhorst never said this.

Windhorst has never said that. He has covered LeBron for a long time. Weak sauce from LeBron. https://t.co/2yeBiacyqA
