Duke Basketball recruits are no strangers to winning awards, and the program's top-rated signee for the Class of 2025, Cameron Boozer, added another trophy for his shelf on Wednesday. Boozer, ranked as the No. 3 overall player in the country according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, was honored with the Gatorade Boys' National Player of the Year award this morning.

Miami Heat forward Kevin Love, himself a former Gatorade Player of the Year winner, surprised Boozer at his high school this morning with the award. Boozer is the second consecutive Duke signee to win the award, following Cooper Flagg last year, and he was surprised with the honor by Orlando Magic forward Paolo Banchero in a ceremony at his high school.

This will be Boozer's second time winning the national award, with the first being during his sophomore year (2022-23).

Gatorade Player of the Year has a 40-year legacy celebrating the next generation for their success on the court, in the classroom and in their communities.

More than a trophy, Gatorade Player of the Year celebrates the next generation unlike anyone else, from one-on-one time with their favorite pros to stylized photoshoots and participation in community initiatives.

Past Gatorade National Boys Basketball Players of the Year have gone on to have incredible success – they've combined for more than five NBA MVPs awards, 76 All-Star appearances, 14 NBA championships, 27 NBA first round draft picks and three became Hall of Famers.

Competition for the award is fierce, and Boozer beat out nearly half a million other student-athletes who play boys basketball nationwide.
