'In particular': Edwards predicts Wolves fringe trio will play more, including star with 'so…

Wolves are in a healthy position in the Premier League – and it may soon be time for for Vitor Pereira to start rotating his team more.

Before the international break, Wolves recorded a huge win over Southampton to go nine points clear of the relegation zone.

Jorgen Strand Larsen’s two goals against the Saints led to a 2-1 win and three points, and fans are now optimistic ahead of the final nine games.

Alan Shearer believes the relegation battle is already over

But Pereira won’t take anything for granted until safety is mathematically assured.

Dave Edwards has been looking ahead to the return of club football, and believes there are two players on the fringes at Wolves who could now see a bit more involvement.

Pereira has not chopped and changed too much since he took over from Gary O’Neil in December.

The Portuguese hasn’t made too many tactical tweaks, and has mainly changed players as a result of injuries.

MORE WOLVES STORIES

For Edwards there are two players on the fringes right now that he can seeing playing more in the final nine games of the season – and they are Rodrigo Gomes and Nasser Djiga.

He said (E&S): “In particular, I hope we can see a little bit more of Pedro Lima before the end of the season. He’s so young but has so much potential.

“A few starts for him would stand him in good stead for next year as another option at right-wing-back.

“Nasser Djiga is another one we could see more of in the next few weeks and also Rodrigo Gomes, who is arguably a starter when he’s fully fit, but it would be great for him to get a run of games at the back end of the season.”

Lima needs more involvement for one big reason

Fans will echo the sentiments of Edwards, but realistically Pereira won’t be taking too many chances until safety is guaranteed.

But it would be especially good to see Pedro Lima getting some more involvement from here on him.

Because we all know that Semedo is likely to leave Wolves when his contract expires this summer.

So ideally, Lima needs a decent level of exposure to the Premier League before the Portuguese leaves the club.

We’ve seen glimpses of the Brazilian’s talent, but Semedo has had that right wing-back position locked down for years at Molineux.

Hopefully though, Pereira will bestow Lima some chances.
