One of the pervasive storylines for the Miami Dolphins offseason has been the trade speculation surrounding star wide receiver Tyreek Hill. In this trade pitch, the Dolphins find a suitor in desperate need of help across their roster in the NFC South.
The trade scenario is the Dolphins sending Hill to the Carolina Panthers for 57th, and 114th overall selections in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Hill is under contract through 2026, though the Panthers would likely give Hill a new deal upon the completion of the trade. The Panthers desperately need wide receiver help, and Hill would be the best option available.
When DK Metcalf was traded, the Pittsburgh Steelers gave up the 52nd overall pick. Metcalf is a lot younger than Hill and was also going to need a major extension. While Hill is four years older than Metcalf, he still fetches a similar price.
Due to the limited wide receiver options on the market and the Dolphins likely playing hardball in trade negotiations, the Dolphins get back multiple draft picks for Hill.
While the Panthers get their number one receiver, the Dolphins would be left with Jaylen Waddle and Nick Westbrook-Ikhene as their receivers. A wide receiver would immediately become a need for Miami, and with the picks from this deal, a move is very possible.
There are likely to be multiple wide receivers available in the second round for Miami, and it would be a much cheaper option than sticking with Hill.
A trade would free up over $20 million in cap space in 2026, which could be used to bring in key free agents or keep their top free agents in 2026 and 2027.
The draft capital acquired from the Panthers, combined with the financial flexibility, would be a huge benefit for the Dolphins franchise.
