Summer transfer window could shut early for Tottenham and co
The Telegraph have now revealed that the Premier League clubs are currently discussing closing the summer window before the start of the new season on August 14.
The measure was followed in past years before being abandoned, and some directors proposed in the meeting in February that the same measure could be brought back for this summer.

The proposal is expected to go to a vote shortly and will require a super-majority of 14 votes to be passed. However, preliminary discussions indicated that there is not enough support for the idea.
Why owners and directors are divided about the transfer window proposal
It is pointed out by the outlet that the owners and the sporting directors of various clubs are divided on whether it would make sense to close the transfer window before the start of the season.
Some feel that stopping all business when the league campaign kicks off would be far better for the sporting integrity of the competition.
However, others feel that it will leave Premier League clubs in a disadvantageous position if their window closes early as clubs from other leagues can still poach their players, while the English clubs will not be able to replace the players they lose.
