Man Utd discover staggering £100m price tag amid scouting mission, starlet admired by Ineos chief

Manchester United have suffered a setback in their pursuit of Tyler Dibling, with Southampton demanding a staggering transfer fee.

Ineos will be planning to strengthen Manchester United’s first-team squad when the transfer window opens this summer.

It will be Ruben Amorim’s first summer as United head coach and it remains to be seen how much financial power the club will have in the market.

As many as 10 players could leave United this summer, with transfer funds likely to be heavily reliant on player sales in the market.

Amorim will also be hoping to have a stronger squad to compete next season. Manchester United are currently sitting 13th in the Premier League table and their only chance of qualifying for the Champions League is by winning the Europa League.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe and co know that Champions League qualification would give United more leg room to spend in the upcoming transfer window. Not securing a place in Europe’s most prestigious competition would make matters more difficult.

Southampton put £100m price tag on Tyler Dibling

After breaking onto the scene at Southampton, Tyler Dibling is set to become one of the most sought-after players in the Premier League.

More United News

Southampton are likely to be relegated from the top flight, which will only make keeping hold of the 19-year-old winger more challenging.

Dibling has made 30 appearances for Southampton across all competitions this season, managing six goal contributions to reportedly attract interest from multiple clubs.

Reports recently suggested that United lodged an enquiry to Southampton for Dibling – along with as many as 16 other clubs, 13 of which are from the Premier League.

United have long been tracking Dibling, especially after he got the better of Diogo Dalot at St. Mary’s earlier this season.

Since then, United have had scouts watching Dibling, but his price tag could be enough to force the Reds to look elsewhere.

According to the Telegraph, Southampton are ready to offer £100 million for Dibling, who has only made 25 appearances in the Premier League so far.

Dibling’s profile, versatility and age have seen him emerge as a serious option for United.

It remains to be seen if Southampton will stick to their word and demand £100m when they’re relegated to the Championship.

After appearing for England Under-19s in the European Championship qualifiers during the international break, Dibling returns to Southampton for a busy end to the season.

Quite a lot of chatter about Tyler Dibling and his position (outside of that £100m story today)

These could be Dibling’s final months at St Mary’s and he won’t want to end it with relegation, even though it’s incredibly likely following a dismal season for Southampton.

Dibling is back in action when Southampton face Crystal Palace in the Premier League next week. On the same night, United travel to Nottingham Forest, hoping for back-to-back domestic wins.

Dibling has admirers at Manchester United

Although it has been well documented that United are tracking the Southampton starlet, with multiple scouting missions taking place, it is already understood that technical director Jason Wilcox is a big admirer of Dibling.

Former Southampton manager Russell Martin revealed that Wilcox was an admirer of Dibling, which explains why the links have regularly resurfaced in the gossip columns.

However, Southampton’s staggering demands could force United to look elsewhere in the market.

Even if it sounds ridiculous that a team set to be relegation could price an inexperienced player out of a move with such a price tag.
