LSU Tigers First-Round Draft Prospect Addresses Arm Length Criticism

The LSU Tigers held their Pro Day on Wednesday afternoon, which brought out all NFL teams to get a closer look at draft hopefuls.

Players like Mason Taylor did not disappoint, while others like Emery Jones Jr. were present but not participating. Jones Jr. was in a black shoulder immobilizer. Projected first-round pick Will Campbell was also not participating but made sure that he talked to the media during and after the event.

Plenty has been said about Campbell's lack of arm-length, with concerns of it being too short. The first measurement came in at 32 5/8 inches, while LSU's measurement put it at 33 inches. He was asked about it following Pro Day.

Campbell said, "For two years, nobody had any measurements on me, and nobody said anything about my play. So now, all of a sudden, arm length decides if I'm a good player or not? I think it's BS."

Campbell went on to say that any decision-makers in the NFL don't care about the arm length and that the criticism comes from people who don't coach.

NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah praised Campbell on Wednesday. "He is such an incredible athlete... he's only one of four who started his first game as a true freshman, never lost his job, and never missed time." His latest mock has Campbell going to the Chicago Bears at 10th and said that he expects him to be a left tackle.

Campbell also talked about his play while with the Tigers at the combine when asked about it.

"I think I've shown everything that I need to, you know, show that I can play tackle at an elite level," said Campbell. "You can go look at my tape, there's not one play on there that when I get beat you say that's because he has shorter arms."

He later said that he did not have 'stereotypical offensive tackle arms' and was aware of it. Campbell said, "People have to nitpick something. I've heard it all my career. When I was coming out of high school, the college coaches all said the same thing. I proved them wrong. It's something I anticipate doing again."

The NFL Draft is less than a month away, and Campbell should hear his named called on the first night relatively early.
