There are a lot of unknowns for Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders as the 2025 NFL Draft approaches.
Miami's Cam Ward is trending to become the No. 1 overall pick and the first quarterback off the board in late April. And it seems like Sanders, arguably next best option, doesn't have a consistent projection at this point.
An easy pick was the New York Giants at No. 3 overall. But that was before the franchise signed veterans Jameis Winston and Russell Wilson this week.
In a surprising new projection, Chris Trapasso of CBS Sports predicts Sanders to drop to the New Orleans Saints at No. 10 overall. This scenario would unite Sanders with veteran Derek Carr, who signed a four-year, $150 million deal in 2023.
Sanders (6-foot-1.5, 212 pounds) led the nation in completion percentage (74%) while throwing for 4,134 yards (fourth nationally) with 37 touchdowns (second) and 10 interceptions as a senior in 2024.
Newly hired Saints head coach Kellen Moore knows a thing or two about quarterbacks, as the former Boise State passer has largely made his mark in the NFL by working closely with the position.
Whether Moore evaluates Sanders as a worthy selection with the 10th pick remains to be seen, but New Orleans would probably benefit by adding some more talent at the position alongside 33-year-old Carr and 2024 fifth-round pick Spencer Rattler.
Sanders will have one final opportunity to showcase his skills during Colorado's Pro Day on April 4.
The 2025 NFL Draft will take place from April 24-26 in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
