ALLEN PARK -- Tim Boyle, the former Detroit Lions journeyman backup quarterback, has signed with the Tennessee Titans.
The 30-year-old spent time with the Miami Dolphins and New York Giants last season, appearing in three games along the way. Since leaving Detroit in 2021, Boyle has started twice and appeared in 10 games between Chicago, both New York Teams and the Dolphins.
Boyle spent the first portion of his career with the Green Bay Packers, then landed with the Lions for parts of 2021 and 2022. Boyle started three games for the Lions in 2021, throwing three touchdowns to six interceptions in three losses.

He was cut by the Lions after camp in 2022, then spent a couple of months on the practice squad before getting poached by the Bears.
Boyle enters another interesting situation, though. The Titans have recent first-round quarterback Will Levis while holding the first pick in this year’s draft, with most analysts and everyone in between expecting them to take Miami (Fl.) quarterback Cam Ward at the top of the draft.
Back here in Detroit, the Lions have Jared Goff, Hendon Hooker, Kyle Allen and Jake Fromm as their quarterbacks.
Goff is the franchise quarterback. Hooker is the former third-round pick heading into Year 3. Allen brings some experience and competition to camp and the offseason program, while Fromm landed a futures deal after sticking on the practice squad for a full season.
