The New York Giants search for a new quarterback came to an end on Tuesday when they signed Russell Wilson to a one-year contract worth up to $21 million. In the wake of the deal being made official, the team shared a three-word announcement with their fans on social media.
After moving on from Daniel Jones midway through the 2024 campaign, the Giants entered the offseason knowing they would need help at quarterback. They were aggressive in free agency, as they heavily pursued Wilson and Aaron Rodgers. In the end, it was the former Pittsburgh Steelers passer who landed with New York.
"The Giants and Super Bowl-winning QB Russell Wilson reached agreement today on a one-year deal worth up to $21 million, including $10.5 million guaranteed. The 10-time Pro-Bowl selection had been in discussions with the Giants, Browns and Steelers, but is opting for New York, where Wilson won Super Bowl XLVIII in MetLife Stadium. Now, Wilson is returning there as the Giants' projected starting QB," Adam Schefter of ESPN reported.
While New York recently added Jameis Winston to the fold, the expectation is that Wilson will end up being the team's starting quarterback come Week 1. With Wilson finally putting pen to paper on his new contract, the Giants shared a quick message on social media.
"Ready to work," the Giants said alongside a photo of Wilson signing his deal.

In 11 games with the Steelers last season, Wilson threw for 2,482 yards and 16 touchdowns, helping lead Pittsburgh to the postseason. They ended up collapsing down the stretch of the season, though, leading the team to explore other options in free agency at the quarterback position.
In addition to Wilson and Winston, the Giants also have Tommy DeVito in their quarterback room. Even with these two veteran additions, the team could opt to add another passer in the 2025 NFL draft, where they are armed with the No. 3 overall pick.
