Countdown 2 the draft: YouTuber Tom Grossi to collaborate with nonprofit at NFL Draft in Green Bay

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - A Packers super fan will spend draft week in Green Bay.

Former NFL Fan of the Year and YouTuber Tom Grossi is organizing a fan meet-up at the draft in an effort to bring together a community of football fans while helping give back.

Grossi says he had the opportunity to announce a draft pick last year in Detroit but declined it because he wanted Green Bay to be the home for his first-ever draft experience.

Growing up in New York, Packers fans were hard to find, but when Tom Grossi finally did see people wearing green and gold, he knew there were more cheeseheads out there somewhere.

Grossi started connecting with other Green Bay fans through YouTube in 2015, where his skits and Packers game livestreams quickly gained traction. It was through his online presence that he got the chance to go to Green Bay and meet Mark Murphy one year later, which is when he first heard plans of welcoming the draft to Green Bay.

“The renovation and construction of Titletown was just starting to get underway, they were still purchasing property, trying to build it up, and I will never forget this, I asked him point blank, I was like ‘Oh just for an extra space for more people to come here?’ and he goes ‘No, we want the draft,’” recalls Grossi.

Once the NFL and the Packers made the official announcement, Grossi knew he needed to be there, but he didn’t know in what capacity.

“I’m so excited just to see the buzz in the air, and for folks who’ve never been to Green Bay before, to be able to have this kind of experience I feel like is going to be unique,” says Grossi.

Grossi has raised over $2.2 million during his time on YouTube, including a charity livestream in February where he raised more than $1 million in less than a week for the organization ‘Children of Fallen Patriots’.

He plans to host a free fan event on day 3 of the draft that will benefit Big Brothers, Big Sisters, saying he hopes to make a difference that will last beyond his days of YouTube.

“I’m just a content creator who makes football videos, and I don’t know how long that’s going to dwell in the halls of history on the internet, but the most important thing is at the end of all this, whenever I hang it up or whenever I’m unable to do this, we helped people,” says Grossi.

He is still working to secure a space to add to his 7-year streak of livestreaming the NFL Draft, but Grossi says he will do it “outside with a little table” if he has to.

“As long as those parameters can be met where I can have a camera and a microphone and stream, people can get in for free, I’m going to be happy. So I’m not only going to be floating around all week, going to different events and just being downtown, but also looking to have some meetups as well,” says Grossi.

For Grossi, this is just the base of his plans. Anything else he can do at the draft will be an added bonus.
