It has been a disappointing season thus far for the Sacramento Kings as they are currently fighting for their playoff lives in the Western Conference.
Sacramento currently sits ninth in the West standings with a 35-37 record and they are just half of a game ahead of the Dallas Mavericks who sit 11th in the standings with the Phoenix Suns in between them.
The Kings have lost four consecutive games and eight of their last 10 contests which has them barely holding onto one of the final Play-In spots in the West.
Of course, it has been a season of change for the Kings which began in late December when they fired head coach Mike Brown and replaced him with Doug Christie.
Sacramento then traded away their star point guard De'Aaron Fox to the San Antonio Spurs at the trade deadline and acquired Zach LaVine from the Chicago Bulls in the same deal.
On Wednesday, the Kings experienced more change as Wes Wilcox, their assistant general manager, left the team to become the new general manager for the University of Utah basketball team.

After his departure from the Kings, Wilcox sent a message to Sacramento and their fans.
"For the past four and a half year, it has been an honor and a privilege to serve the Sacramento Kings organization and its peerless fanbase," Wilcox posted to social media. "Also, I wasn't to thank the most passionate, loyal fans in the NBA for your endless enthusiasm and unconditional care of Kings basketball."

Of course, Wilcox also thanked the players and coaching staff in his farewell message and it is clear that he will miss working for the Kings organization.
Despite that, moving to Utah may be just the move Wilcox needed as the Kings' front office is on the hotseat with the season not going well and Sacramento is expected to make some more changes in the offseason, which could have saw Wilcox be fired.
Now, Wilcox will fill the general manager role for Utah as the Utes look to bounce back after finishing with a 16-16 record this season.
