The Blazers are caught on the precipice of two different directions: An attempt to reach a play-in game, or a shot at moving up a spot in the draft. The organization may have chosen their direction, but the fans and front office aren’t always in line. So we’ll open up this question to you:
Given the choice, would you rather see the Blazers get the 8th pick in the 2025 NBA Draft in June, or the 8th NBA Playoffs seed in April?
Of course, in both these scenarios, it means some specific things have happened:
**Eighth Playoff Seed:** The Blazers would need to win enough games move into the 9th or 10th spots in the West, which is feasible thanks to the [tough schedules](https://www.blazersedge.com/2025/3/26/24394790/blazers-playoff-race-draft-position-suns-kings-mavs-heat-spurs-bulls) of their competitors, the Suns, Kings, and Mavs. They would then need to win a 9/10 play-in game, followed by a second play-in game on the road against the loser of the 7/8 match-up. They would likely be picking either 15th or 16th in the NBA Draft.
**Eighth Draft Pick:** The Blazers would need to lose enough of their remaining nine games to have a worse record than the Heat, Bulls, and Spurs (or win a coin flip in case of a tie), leaving them with the 8th-worst record. However, they also **would not have moved up or down in the draft lottery**, because, well, that’s obvious if they finished with the 8th-worst record and get the 8th pick.
