Cuba and the Red Cross hold high-level talks

HAVANA, Cuba, Mar 26 (ACN) The Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) initiated today in this city their 10th High-Level Talks.

According to a post on the Foreign Ministry’s website, the meeting is intended to facilitate an in-depth approach to issues of common interest regarding the promotion and protection of International Humanitarian Law (IHL), as well as to review results and follow-up actions related to the 34th International Conference of the Red Cross and Red Crescent held in October 2024.

Presiding over the Cuban side is Juan Antonio Quintanilla Román, General Director of Multilateral Affairs and International Law of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, whereas the ICRC delegation is headed by Elena Ajmone Sessera, Regional Director for the Americas, and other Red Cross executives.

Also attending the talks are Carlos Ricardo Pérez Díaz, secretary general of the Cuban Red Cross, and his legal advisor Joel González García.
