Minnesota Vikings Can’t Quit Aaron Rodgers Rumors

Aaron Rodgers is still looking for a home. The legendary quarterback washed out in New York as a member of the Jets, but, at this point, doesn’t want his career to end.

In recent weeks, it became clear that Aaron Rodgers would like to play for the Minnesota Vikings, but the Vikings aren’t necessarily all that interested in Aaron Rodgers, or so we thought. On Wednesday, it was reported that the Vikings are still open to the possibility that Rodgers could their QB1 next year.

After missing all but a handful of snaps in his first season with the Jets in 2023, Rodgers played a full season in 2024. He threw for just under 4,000 yards with 28 touchdowns and 11 interceptions, respectable numbers on the surface. But, he wasn’t the same player he was in Green Bay, and the Jets struggled on the field, going 5-12. They released him, and clear-cut destinations for him have dwindled, especially after the Giants recently signed Russell Wilson. He’s visited the Steelers, but hasn’t pulled the trigger on signing with them. That’s because he is very intrigued in working with Kevin O’Connell and the Vikings. The team moved on from Sam Darnold this offseason, but has 2024 first-rounder JJ McCarthy coming off an ACL injury ready to be named the starter.

It seemed like they had moved on from pursuing Aaron Rodgers last week, but they seem to be still open to the possibility of bringing him in. Here’s ESPN with more.

Kwesi Adofo-Mensah, however, refused multiple opportunities to rule out the possibility of revisiting discussions with Rodgers later this offseason if he is still available. Rodgers visited the Pittsburgh Steelers last week, but another possible suitor — the New York Giants — appears to have moved on.

“For me to sit here and say that anything’s 100 percent forever, that’s just not the job,” Adofo-Mensah said. “We’re responding to scenarios and different information as it comes. So obviously things can change, but right now we’re really happy with our [quarterback] room and we’re going to look to upgrade it in different ways.

It seems like the Aaron Rodgers saga could be far from ending.
