Manchester United are back in Premier League action next Tuesday following the international break
Manchester United have underperformed in the Premier League this season and will be hoping for a much better performance in the next campaign. They are currently sat down in 13th place in the table. The Red Devils have nine fixtures left to play.
The Red Devils can sign some new players this summer to bolster their ranks. Ruben Amorim will be keen to put more of his own stamp on the team. He will also have the chance to let some players head out the exit door too to help free up space and funds.
Manchester United latest regarding Jobe Bellingham links
Former United chief scout Mick Brown, who also worked for Blackburn Rovers, doesn’t think Sunderland star Jobe Bellingham would have as many teams interested in him if he wasn’t the brother of Real Madrid and England star Jude. The Black Cats are poised to face a battle to keep hold of the midfielder in the upcoming transfer window.
Brown has said, as per Football Insider: “Well, they would know all there is to know about him – he would’ve had to improve a lot since the last time I saw him, to be at that level. [It] depends whether he’s available, but I can’t see Sunderland falling over backwards to do everybody a favour, and letting them have him for next to nothing.
“What I know about him [from] when I last saw him, I don’t think he’s of that standard yet, but he’s obviously come on a bit. If his brother wasn’t his brother, I don’t think there would be that interest in him, trust me, but everybody seems to think ‘well there’s one in the family, there might be two’.”
Will Manchester United sign Jobe Bellingham?
Time will tell whether United end up making an official bid for Bellingham. If he joined the Red Devils, he would give them more competition and depth in the middle of the park. He is still only 19 and although he has bags of potential, he may not be a regular starter immediately in the top flight.
Just like his brother, he rose up through the academy ranks at Birmingham City and was a regular for the Blues at various different youth levels. He broke into their first-team and went on to play 26 matches before being lured away from Sunderland.
Bellingham, who is an England youth international, has been a key player for the North East outfit since joining them in 2023. He has made 81 appearances in all competitions and has chipped in with 11 goals, four of which have come this term under Regis Le Bris as they eye promotion from the Championship.
His contract at the Stadium of Light expires in 2028. After penning an extension last year, he said: “I’m buzzing to sign this contract and extend my stay at Sunderland. I feel like I have a lot of unfinished business and I believe we can achieve some great things this season. This is such an amazing city and I’m so proud to represent the people within it."
