It’s been a phenomenal season for the Oklahoma City Thunder in the 2024-25 campaign, as records continue to be broken and milestones achieved. On Tuesday night, the Thunder earned its 60th win, which marks just the second time the franchise has done that since relocating to Oklahoma City. The only other time that’s happened was in the 2012-13 season, which featured a team led by Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook.

While winning 60 games in itself isn’t a significant accomplishment in the grand scheme of things — with a championship being the ultimate goal — it’s still something that does indicate just how special this OKC team is.

When evaluating this particular season and how it has unfolded, the Western Conference has been as competitive as ever. Even then, the 60-12 Thunder own a 13.5-game cushion over the second-place team in the conference. In fact, Oklahoma City reached 60 wins before anyone else in the West reached 50.

Even in a historical context, the Thunder’s season has been exceptional. The team’s 83.3% winning percentage is on pace for a 68-win season, which would be tied for fifth-most all-time and the second-most victories in a single season since 2000. Furthermore, the Thunder became the youngest team in NBA history to win 60 games in a season on Tuesday night and the eighth fastest to eclipse that win threshold in NBA history, given 10 games remain.

As pointed out by [Forbes NBA reporter Shane Young](https://x.com/youngnba/status/1904750798497866105?s=46&t=EQcgxaNndS1qfatOrb6xqg), the Thunder is the 11th team in NBA history to win 60 of their first 72 games, and seven of the last 10 teams won an NBA Championship.

Thunder coach Mark Daigneault has been impressed with his team’s focus on the process and tackling each game as it comes along the way this season, which has compounded and resulted in the 60 wins being earned.

“This team’s made a habit of just tackling the next possession in front of it, the next game in front of it, the next day in front of it, and it's put us in this position, which we're grateful for and excited about,” said Daigneault on Tuesday night.

Oklahoma City’s ascension over the past few years has been exponential. The franchise is on pace for its third consecutive season with a double-digit year-over-year increase in wins.

* 2021-2022: 24-58

* 2022-2023: 40-42

* 2023-2024: 57-25

* 2024-2025: 60-12 (10 Games Remaining)

What makes the 60 wins even more impressive for the Thunder is just how dominant the victories have been. Oklahoma City leads the league in double-digit wins and has the highest point differential in NBA history for a single season. Each of the five teams just below the Thunder in all-time point differential have won the title.

* 12.94 — Thunder (2025)

* 12.28 — Lakers (1972)\*

* 12.26 — Bucks (1971)\*

* 12.24 — Bulls (1996)\*

* 11.63 — Warriors (2017)\*

* 11.34 — Celtics (2024)\*

\*won NBA Championship

Again, winning 60 games doesn’t come with a trophy or a free pass to the NBA Finals. But it does quantify just how good a team is, especially when that mark is eclipsed with 10 games remaining. The Oklahoma City Thunder is a team that has everything it needs to win an NBA Championship this season.
