Eagles’ NFC East Rival Takes Wacky Turn At Quarterback

Life is good for the Philadelphia Eagles.

They are the defending Super Bowl champions and have their main core returning, they have a deep collection fo draft picks to replace some of their losses, and remain the favorite in a competitive NFC East,

The Washington Commanders and Dallas Cowboys are two organizations who feel they can match up well with the Eagles. They'll indeed be the focus for Philly to be the first team to repeat in the division since 2004.

But at least there's the New York Giants.

New York unveiled their new starting quarterback Russell Wilson Wednesday afternoon after signing the quarterback to a one-year deal Tuesday night. Even funnier is the fact that the Giants appear to be giving Wilson the starting job right away in 2025.

"I expect to be the starter, and come in here ready to rock and roll every day, to be able to lead," Wilson said. "I think this team is really looking for someone to lead them every day, in terms of the process in the offseason, during the season, our habits and our thought processes and how we create a great winning culture."

Philadelphia dominated the Wilson-led Steelers last season in a 27-13 victory. Wilson went 14-22 passing for under 130 yards and a single touchdown pass. He's now on his third team in three seasons - a sign that his career may be coming to an end.

Just don't tell him that.

"I love adversity. I love challenges. I love the underdog mentality," Wilson told reporters Wednesday. "Maybe it's being 5-foot-11 and people telling you you can't do something... Being in New York, it's an exciting place to play. It's a place that wants to win, it's a place that knows how to win and has won before."

Adversity is certainly coming for Wilson. The question will be if the 36-year-old will be able to play at a high level to meet that adversity head on. In a deep NFC East, it's hard to see that happen.
