Simmons has a fantastic blend of strength and athleticism that's obvious from the first snap of any game. He's just as comfortable handling speed rushers off the edge as he is locking down power players and bull-rushes, and he's got the technical prowess to make the most of his strong combination of size and length. As a run-blocker, Simmons has a high comfort level working on the move, climbing to linebackers and engulfing them with his bigger frame and reach, and he doesn't lose his leverage or lack for consistent balance when forced to lock up his target on the move. His hand placement and punch effectiveness is consistent, and his preparation shows through in how he deals with complex pass-rushing moves.
Weaknesses
Simmons suffered a knee injury that cost him the better part of the 2024 season, and his recovery could have a significant impact on his draft stock. His level of competition could also be a question mark. A transfer from San Diego State, Simmons was solid in 2023, but was dominant for the first part of the 2024 season before his injury. That was before the Buckeyes had faced many of their toughest opponents, so it's fair to wonder if his dominance was more a product of the competition than his own development.

Simmons is the total package from a physical standpoint, and has the kind of polished technique that should allow him to start right away in the NFL. His injury and recovery could have an impact on where he lands, but at full strength, he looked like a top-15 talent earlier in the season. Any team looking for an instant starter at either tackle spot could still bank on him returning to that caliber of play, and still take him in that range.
