Newcastle United and several of their Premier League rivals could be priced out of a move.
Southampton are demanding a staggering amount of money for 19-year-old sensation Tyler Dibling.
Newcastle United have held a long-term interest in the young forward ever since he scored a first-half hat-trick against their under-21s at St James’ Park in April 2022. The Magpies then tried to sign him that summer but he ended up joining Chelsea instead.

But Dibling lasted a matter of months in West London after struggling to settle and returned to South Coast. Almost three years on and the player has broken into the senior picture at St Mary’s.
With only nine points to their name after 29 games, it’s been a pitiful campaign for the Saints, which is set to end in relegation back to the Championship. But one bright spark has been Dibling’s breakthrough.
Dibling has made 30 appearances in all competitions and scored four times. The Telegraph reports that Tottenham Hotspur are weighing up a summer move, while there is also interest from the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United, Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig.
However, it’s claimed Southampton are prepared to adopt a “hardline stance” with their valuation higher than the £100 million Man City paid to sign Jack Grealish four years ago. That is despite the England under-21s international having just two years left on his contract.

Tyler Dibling is a fan of St James’ Park
As well as scoring a hat-trick there as a 16-year-old, Dibling also made his Premier League debut at St James’ Park.
Speaking to Southampton’s website after his hat-trick, Dibling said: "Yeah, it was good. A hat-trick in the first half, I've never done that before. The fans were good, considering there weren't that many.

"It was a real buzz, and it was nice to play in a stadium like this. All the [goals were the] same. That's what I do most, pick it up and drive, have a bang – and hopefully it goes in.
"I like to have the ball, dribble, beat a couple of people – and get my shot off. Sometimes I pass it, but I just shot there.”

Will Newcastle United make a move for Tyler Dibling?
Very unlikely, especially at that price. Newcastle have only just navigated themselves out of a difficult position regarding Premier League Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR). Forking out £100m+ on one player without a big sale or increased revenue streams just isn’t wise.
Signing a right forward - the position which Dibling plays - is a priority for head coach Eddie Howe this summer and there will likely be targets identified at potentially half the price.
