'Would like to have': Kepa Arrizabalaga says Man City have a player in their ranks who's the…

Manchester City star Ederson hasn’t had a particularly good season, having made a number of mistakes that have cost the team over the past few months.

However, there’s no denying that Ederson has been a star for most of his time at Manchester City.

The Brazil international joined City from Benfica in 2017, and has been their first-choice goalkeeper during an unprecedented period of success.

During his time in Manchester, the club have lifted six Premier League titles, the Champions League, two FA Cups, four League Cups and the Club World Cup.

Fellow goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga has now spoken about Ederson and shared what the City keeper has in his repertoire that he’d love to have for himself.

Kepa Arrizabalaga wants to have Ederson’s distribution

Sky Sports interviewed Kepa as part of their latest Sticker Book Challenge episode, which sees players pick between four choices on a number of topics.

Kepa was asked which Premier League goalkeeper’s trait he’d like to have the most for himself.

He had to pick between Alisson’s shot-stopping, Ederson’s distribution, David Raya’s cross-claiming and Jordan Pickford’s bravery.

Kepa picked Ederson, saying his kicking is something that is difficult to achieve even with a lot of training, and admitted the City star’s distribution is something “every goalkeeper would like to have”.

“One thing that is difficult to get – Ederson’s kick,” said Kepa.

“Even if you train, even if you try, how easy he can move the ball, how easy he can put the ball behind the defence, how he is kicking the ball is something that I think every goalkeeper would like to have.

“So I think it’s what I going to choose – Ederson’s distribution and his kick and how long he can shoot the ball.”

What the future holds for Ederson

Ederson will be remembered as a key member of the all-conquering City juggernaut that has shone over the past seven or years, but his current form is concerning.

Pep Guardiola revealed that Ederson could have left City last summer.

The “real reason” why he was not sold is because none of the offers that were submitted to sign him were deemed worthy to follow through with.

Ederson expressed his desire to stay at City for a few “more years” after his side beat Manchester United in the Community Shield.

Ederson disclosed that Guardiola convinced him to stay as well – but since then, his form has dropped off massively, sparking concerns over his future at the club.

In February, Fabrizio Romano revealed that City are open to letting Ederson leave this summer.

“What I’m hearing is also for Ederson, there is a concrete possibility to go in the summer,” Romano said on YouTube.

“He was close to Saudi last year, then the deal collapsed but now Ederson remains one of the players who could leave the club in the summer transfer window.”
