On 21st March, H.E. Ambassador Xiao Jianguo visited Chung Hwa School, Labi and attended the Ramadhan Donation Ceremony. The school’s Chairman of the Board Yong Kim Sin, board members, as well as representatives of teachers, students and their families were present.
Ambassador Xiao commended Chung Hwa School, Labi for fulfilling its mission of nurturing students, making significant contributions to keeping to teach Chinese and promoting friendship between China and Brunei. He highlighted that both Chinese culture and Islamic culture share fine traditions of mutual assistance and helping those in need. He expressed his hope that the Ramadhan donation could convey the cordial friendship from Chinese people to Bruneian people and demonstrate the spirit of community with a shared future by substantive actions.
Ambassador Xiao presented donations to some Muslim students and their families, extending his festive greetings of Ramadhan. Mr. Yong, on behalf of all the teachers and students of the school, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Embassy and stated that the school would continue to dedicate itself to cultivating outstanding talents, contributing more to Brunei's social development and China-Brunei relationship.
After the donation, Ambassador Xiao inspected the classrooms and teaching equipment, and engaged in cordial exchanges with the school's board members.
Chung Hwa School, Labi was founded in 1946. Nearly 70% of its students are non-ethnic Chinese.
