O'Riley returned two months later and netted a crucial winner against Manchester City as it looked like he was set for take off under Fabian Hurzeler.

But a separate knee injury since has seen him sidelined, with the Denmark international making just 14 appearances during is maiden campaign in the English Premier League.

Interest in O'Riley before he left Parkhead was high, with Atalanta seeing numerous bids booted out by the Hoops before they eventually accepted defeat when Brighton came in with the record breaking money.

But O'Riley could yet end up in Serie A after all. TalkSport report that a number of Serie A sides are keeping a close eye on his situation, with Roma thought to be keen on trying to strike a deal with Brighton this summer.

The former MK Dons man will still have four years left to run on his Brighton deal so won't come cheap. However, with the 2026 World Cup on the horizon and O'Riley needing to play regularly in order to make the Denmark squad shold they qualify, then playing regularly will be a must.
