Jack Grealish has been advised to ditch Manchester City this summer with a transfer move considered 'nailed on'. The England star has been linked with a move to Newcastle United.
The 29-year-old has struggled to find form at the Etihad, with not a single league goal to his name this season. It has opened the door for the player to consider a switch away from the Premier League champions.
Chronicle Live revealed last week that Grealish was open to a move to Newcastle. The star is believed to be keen on a switch to Tyneside and linking up with Eddie Howe but has also been linked with a number of other clubs.
Thomas Tuchel omitted Grealish from his inaugural squad as England manager due to an excess of talent in attacking positions. Despite being fit for nearly every match in 2025, Grealish has only started three games since January, all in the FA Cup.
With over two years remaining on his City contract, it seems Grealish may be parting ways with the club sooner than expected. Troy Deeney, ex-Watford forward, has suggested that Spurs would be an ideal destination for Grealish, who appears to have fallen out of favour under Pep Guardiola's management.
"I think it's nailed on that he's going to leave now," Deeney told talkSPORT. "I've said this before, I think Pep Guardiola's one of the best coaches we've ever seen. But I don't think he's handled the Jack Grealish slash Kevin De Bruyne situation well this year at all. I think he's left them in the cold.
"He will have to leave and I don't think he wont be short of suitors but I think now it's a massive situation for him. He may have to lower his expectations in terms of wages and where he's playing but you could definitely see him going to somewhere like Spurs playing week in, week out and trying to move them up but for Jack it's about staying fit and playing consistently."
Back in 2018, Tottenham showed considerable interest in Grealish following Aston Villa's failure to secure Premier League promotion. However, their £25 million bid was rejected as they balked at Villans' £40 million valuation.
Fast forward three years and after a stellar performance with Villa in the Premier League, Manchester City paid a hefty £100 million, setting a new transfer record, to snatch him from his childhood club. While Grealish has added six trophies to his cabinet during his stint in Manchester, critics argue that his contributions haven't justified the colossal fee, particularly as he was left out of the England squad for Euro 2024 last summer.
In a recent turn of events, the 29 year old footballer was seen enjoying time at a social club in Washington with mates, and later that same night hitting the tiles in Newcastle. Pep Guardiola, City's gaffer, when questioned, emphasised player freedom on days off, maintaining: "A day off is a day off.
"They have private lives to do whatever they want. I'm not going to control what they do in their private life. I judge what I see on the pitch, the training sessions and the performances in the game."
