Travers joined on loan from Bournemouth in the January transfer window, when [Boro](https://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sport/football/middlesbrough/) were forced to move for a keeper after both Sol Brynn and Seny Dieng suffered serious injuries.
Travers was quickly identified as their top loan target and the 25-year-old has impressed at the Riverside so far, conceding just three goals in his last five games, despite playing behind a makeshift defence that has been decimated by injury.
Travers is due to return to Bournemouth at the end of the season, but Boro will speak to the Cherries and gauge whether a permanent deal could be a possibility for the keeper.
That would likely depend on a number of factors.
First of all, Bournemouth would need to make a permanent signing of their own. Kepa Arrizabalaga is the Cherries' current number one but he's only on loan from Chelsea for the season.
Bournemouth are reportedly keen on making the Spaniard's deal permanent in the summer, but would have to come to an agreement with Chelsea and the 30-year-old would likely have to accept a pay cut.
Liverpool's CaoimhĂn Kelleher is said to be an alternative target for Bournemouth.

Should Bournemouth succeed in signing a keeper on a permanent deal, Andoni Iraola would have a decision to make on Travers, who would be unlikely to accept a role as deputy.
But if Bournemouth were willing to allow Travers to move on, it's not clear how much they'd want for the keeper, who is an Ireland international and still has two years to run on his contract. If Boro failed to win promotion this season and were planning for another campaign in the Championship, they'd also be unlikely to be able to match Travers' current salary.
But Travers has settled quickly at Boro and is understood to be enjoying his spell at the Riverside and cherishing the opportunity of regular football.
Dieng started this season as No.1 but lost his place to Brynn shortly before both keepers suffered their injuries. Brynn is expected to be back fit before the end of the season but Dieng is a long-term absentee. Tom Glover is also on Boro's books but will be moving into the final year of his contract in the summer and could well look for a move as he looks to ensure he keeps his place in the Australia squad ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
Brynn, an academy graduate, remains highly rated at Boro and will be desperate for another opportunity after his spell as No.1 was cruelly cut short by injury during the draw against Sheffield Wednesday on Boxing Day.
