Gary Neville completely blew his top at Jamie Carragher, with the pair trading insults after a furious debate. The pair were tasked with discussing Phil Foden’s England position on the latest episode of The Overlap.
And the previously cordial chat soon descended into chaos. After fellow pundit Jill Scott had asked where Foden’s best spot was, Neville put his head in his hands and said: “Where do you play him? Only English people ask that. Only English people ask that about these players.”

That prompted Carragher to get involved who asked his colleague: “What are you talking about? Where would you play him?,” to which Neville replied: “Oh my god!”
“No, stop saying 'oh my god' for thinking something else!," Carragher said. "Where would you put him? He’s played every position for England, he hasn’t done it. We all love him, he’s amazing for Man City. He hasn’t done it for England. Stop saying 'oh my god' every time I speak.”
The debate continued with Neville claiming that Foden was treated like a “used car” by England, before explaining he would play the Manchester City star alongside in front of Declan Rice and alongside Jude Bellingham. And as the volume increased between the pair, Arsenal icon Ian Wright could not resist getting involved as he said: “Louder”.

The exchange did not calm down after that point as Carragher once again tried to get more information out of Neville, who said: “Oh my god, you’ve just asked me where I’d play him and I’ve told you where I’d play him. I’ve answered your question!”
Neville’s explanation continued as he explained that Foden should be this generation’s Alan Shearer, where he gets in regardless of form, to which Carragher replied: “What are you talking about? Absolute rubbish.”
Carragher continued to add to the debate and claimed that Foden was the best player in the Premier League last season, but Southgate struggled to find a place for him due to Bukayo Saka and Jude Bellingham’s superior England contributions. Bizarrely, Neville then suggested that Foden is on par with Bellingham, with even Wright left baffled as he shouted “What?!”

Neville then suggested that Foden’s situation was similar to that of Paul Scholes, who was regularly shunted out wide to make room for Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard. That prompted Neville to pick a system for England’s 2004 'Golden Generation' in a 5-3-2 formation before saying: “He’s [Carragher] gone f****** quiet, hasn’t he? Because he knows I’m right.”
Carragher interrupted his colleague to say that Neville had previously picked a 4-3-3 system, which triggered a hilarious response from the United legend who shouted: “For Foden, you absolute tool!,” which saw Wright break out into wild laughter.
Roy Keane then suggested that the side would have no chance of winning a trophy because Neville had forgotten to name a goalkeeper, while Neville rounded off the exchange by looking straight at the camera and said: “Sorry lads, you didn’t deserve that waking up on your Thursday morning.”
