Newcastle United have received encouragement as they consider a move for Francisco Trincao.
The Magpies are desperate to sign a right winger this summer. It is the one position that Newcastle United have not strengthened since PIF bought the club.
That should change this summer, especially after Miguel Almiron was sold during the January transfer window.
His departure has improved Newcastle’s PSR position, as Paul Mitchell ponders how to enhance Eddie Howe’s squad.
With a right winger seen as essential, Newcastle are looking at Francisco Trincao. The 25-year-old is playing incredibly well for Sporting CP this season, and his performances have caught the eye on Tyneside.

How Francisco Trincao did during his Wolves loan spell
Trincao has spent one season in English football.
He joined Wolves on loan from Barcelona as a 21-year-old in 2021, when Bruno Lage was the manager at Molineux. Trincao joined a squad that was full of fellow Portuguese players, including Ruben Neves, Jose Sa, Daniel Podence, Pedro Neto, Joao Moutinho and Nelson Semedo.
But while many Portuguese players have thrived in a Wolves shirt, that was not the case for Trincao.
He made 30 appearances for Wolves in all competitions, scoring three goals and providing one assist. The winger struggled for consistency, and was in and out of the team.
Come the end of the season, Wolves opted not to sign Trincao permanently. That was no surprise.
Now 25-years-old and playing his football in Portugal, Trincao is a very different player. There was excitement when he joined Wolves because of his potential, and now he is realising that potential.
He has scored nine goals and provided 15 assists for Sporting CP this season, and that clinical edge in the final third is why Newcastle United are paying close attention to him.
It is reported that Trincao could cost £30million, which may prove to be money well spent if the Magpies decide to make a move.
