The List: SGA in exclusive club
The Thunder’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has produced two straight sub-par games: 7-of-29 shooting (despite 26 points) in a 103-101 win at the Clippers on Sunday and 10-of-23 shooting (32 points) in a 121-105 victory at the Kings. But those off-nights just show how remarkable Gilgeous-Alexander has been.
For the third straight season, Gilgeous-Alexander is averaging at least 30 points a game while shooting at least 50% from the field, as a guard. How rare is that? The club is quite exclusive. Here are the 11 seasons in NBA history in which a guard has averaged at least 30 points with a field-goal percentage of at least .500, ranked by scoring average:
1. Michael Jordan, Bulls, 1987-88: 35.0 points; .535 shooting
2. Michael Jordan, Bulls, 1989-90: 33.6 points; .526 shooting
