Aston Villa will wait until the end of the season to make a final decision about Marcus Rashford, says transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Rashford looks to be putting his troubles at Manchester United behind him as he impresses on loan at Villa.

He might not have scored for Unai Emery’s side yet, but he has a few assists, has helped Villa reach the quarter-finals of both the Champions League and FA Cup and also continue to battle for a top-four finish in the Premier League.

He has also won his place back in the England squad under new head coach Thomas Tuchel, starting both of their World Cup qualifiers against Albania and Latvia at Wembley during the international break.

Rashford looks set to continue to play a key role between now and the end of the season for Villa, who have an option to sign him permanently for £40m in the summer.

And Romano insists Villa will not rush into a decision over activating the clause in his loan deal.

“My understanding is that Aston Villa are very happy with Marcus Rashford and when I say Aston Villa it is Monchi, all of the people at the club and, of course, the manager Unai Emery, who loves these kind of challenges when the player is talented, the player is good, but needs extra motivation,” he said on his YouTube channel.

“Aston Villa are not deciding anything now, so Aston Villa, end of March, beginning of April, they are not planning to activate anything for Marcus Rashford.

“End of the season when they understand about Champions League, when they understand about European football, when they understand how was whole the season, they will assess also the financial situation.

“Financial Fair Play is a crucial topic for Aston Villa, we know that, and then Aston Villa will communicate their decision.

“But at the moment what I can tell you is Villa is very happy with the player.

“They are very happy with the situation. Now, they have to decide and see whether they are able to pay the £40m or not.”
