Marco Silva takes dig at Everton fans as he makes Carlo Ancelotti claim

Marco Silva is thriving with Fulham nowadays, but he had a mixed time at Everton between 2018 and 2019.

It’s clear the Portuguese manager has come on leaps and bounds since departing Everton.

The former Toffees boss did have some success guiding Everton to an eighth-place finish but didn’t cover himself in glory the season after.

Despite a rocky ending, Silva was honoured to be Everton manager, and it has played a big part in his career.

Despite his respect for the club, it seems Silva has sent a subtle dig to Evertonians.

Marco Silva sends a dig to Everton fans after managerial stint

Everton fans have seen some abysmal manager, but it doesn’t seem like Silva fits into that category.

Even though he was sacked, an eighth-place finish for David Moyes now will see him as more of a hero than he already is.

With his sacking, it seems the former Toffees boss got his own back as Silva poached Alex Iwobi off Everton, but he hasn’t stopped sending digs to the fanbase.

Speaking to Portuguese outlet A Bola, Silva made it clear that the Everton fans had set their standards too high in the Premier League.

“Everton have a tremendous history, but at the moment, due to recent events, they are aiming for different goals,” Silva said.

“When I was there, and then with (Carlo) Ancelotti, the club always wanted to be in the top eight.

“But there was a divergence between the fans’ soul and what was actually possible to achieve, creating the idea that defeat was felt in a fateful way.”

Silva believes he did a better job than Carlo Ancelotti at Everton

This statement shows that he has kind of been proven right, as Everton would do anything for a top-half finish now.

It seems like they are finally going in the right direction under Moyes, and The Friedkins ownership is looking promising, especially as the Everton owners have a wise approach to things.

Silva might have been right with one claim to the outlet, but another will leave Evertonians baffled.

The Fulham manager goes onto say that he was proud of his time in charge at Goodison Park and made the point that even Carlo Ancelotti didn’t have a season quite as good as he did.

This makes for an alarming revelation as although the Italian could only achieve a best finish of 10th, the points tally of 59 trumps Silva’s 54 in the 18/19 season.

In that same campaign, it would’ve seen Everton finish seventh and in the European places, meaning his point isn’t entirely correct.
