Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has already spoken of his desire to keep hold of Kobbie Mainoo amid the possibility of him leaving the club in this summer's transfer window.
As reported by the Manchester Evening News on Thursday, there is a genuine chance the England international could leave Old Trafford in the coming months. Both United and Mainoo have been in discussions over a new contract since March last year but have so far failed to make a breakthrough.

Talks were understood to be going positively before stalling, which has led to uncertainty concerning Mainoo's United future in recent months. His current deal expires in June 2027.
Mainoo has established himself as one of the most eye-catching youngsters in European football and has enjoyed a sharp rise since making his first Premier League start for United against Everton in November 2023. United firmly believe he has the necessary tools to reach the very top.
Prior to his current injury that has forced him to miss United's last eight games, Mainoo had established his place in Amorim's plans, offering him an option to play as both a No.8 and as a No.10.
Lauding Mainoo, plus teammate Alejandro Garnacho back in January, Amorim said: "Yes, my players are always my favourites. So I really love my players, I want to keep my players, especially the talented ones.
"It's a special moment in this club, it's a hard moment, I am really happy with Kobbie, he is improving and also with Garna (Garnacho).
"The first thing I think I don't remember to say clearly that I want new players. What I said is sometimes the profile for this system is different and the players came here with a different idea how to play."
Amorim also took that particular opportunity to highlight the importance of United's academy and developing players through the system, adding: "Our idea is always to keep the best players and the players that we build for this club but we know the position the club is in at the moment. We will see.
"But I'm very happy. I really like the players, especially the guys from the academy."
Mainoo has made 16 appearances for United under Amorim, scoring one goal. He could return from his injury lay-off at some point next month.
