Marc Cucurella has become such a popular figure at Chelsea and not just because of his excellent displays.
Cucurella has been one of Chelsea‘s standout performers this season, finding himself among the goals of late.
Before the Blues’ 1-0 defeat to Arsenal, Cucurella scored in back-to-back games against Leicester City and Southampton.
In total, the 26-year-old has netted five times in all competitions, which is really not a bad return for a defender. It has given him the opportunity to whip out his now iconic penguin celebration. Cucurella has also shone for Spain over the international break, maintaining his brilliant form this term.

Marc Cucurella dedicates Chelsea goal celebration to his wife
The first time Chelsea supporters got to see Cucurella’s penguin celebration was in the Blues’ 2-1 win against Brentford in December, which came after their 4-3 victory over Tottenham Hotspur.
During the Tottenham game, Cucurella slipped twice, resulting in two of Spurs’ goals. However, the left-back was not making fun of himself the match after with his imitation of a penguin.
Rather, Cucurella was sending a very touching message to his wife, which he has explained in an interview with Sky Sports.
On his celebration, the Spaniard said: “I do the penguin because I read on the internet that the penguin, he chooses his partner and they have one partner for the rest of his life.

“So one day I read this and I sent it to her, so then I say… we are joking always because I never score, no. So if I score, I do this, blah, blah, blah and then the problem is like I score a lot of times so now I do the celebration a lot of times. And now my kids, they’re watching me doing this and they do the penguin at home.”
Cucurella is proving to be a real character at Stamford Bridge, which is one reason why supporters have now taken a liking to him.
It has not always been easy for the Spain international in west London, though. Cucurella recently spoke about life under Graham Potter and suggested that his former manager was not too happy about his performances back in the 2022/23 season.

Marc Cucurella refuses to rule out Barcelona move
Chelsea fans should enjoy Cucurella’s goals and antics for as long as possible.
The former Brighton & Hove Albion man has been linked with a move to Barcelona in the past and has not ruled out joining the La Liga club one day.
When Cucurella was asked about those Barcelona links, he replied: “The truth is that I don’t think about it now. I mean, I’m fine where I am and such, I’m enjoying the moment.
“I really think they’re happier than I am in London. To live I like it a lot and they are very comfortable and time is a little what kills, but I think that for an experience of a few years… Let’s see, never say never, right? I think I wouldn’t live there forever, but to stay a few more years, I’m very happy.”
Undoubtedly one of the best left-backs in the Premier League right now, hopefully Enzo Maresca can keep hold of Cucurella and his penguin celebration.
