In order for Ruben Amorim’s system to become effective for Manchester United, vital transfer moves must be made this summer.
It is no secret that the squad inherited by Ruben Amorim is nowhere near good enough to mount a serious challenge of returning to the top.
Ineos have recognised this, and Manchester United are planning a 10-player-or-more clear out this summer that could give Jason Wilcox and Christopher Vivell the rope needed to revolutionise the squad.
There are four positions United want to strengthen this summer, ranging right across the system, with a new central defender, central midfielder, attacking midfielder and striker all desired.
Ineos want a new attacker, as the club expects Marcus Rashford, Antony and Jadon Sancho to depart permanently after their respective loans.
United have been linked with several players who would suit the number 10 role perfectly, but there could be a game-changing addition yet to be suggested.

Manchester United could save Arda Guler from Real Madrid misery
For many, Real Madrid is seen as the pinnacle of football, which means few move away from the Santiago Bernabeu unless they are forced to.
United have fallen victim to this, signing Casemiro and Raphael Varane on big wages, along with a hefty fee, considering their ages at the time.

However, this summer, it could be worth returning to Spain and trying to try and steal wonderkid Arda Guler from the La Liga giants. At the age of just 20, Guler is a name known across Europe, as he was a sensation for Fenerbahce in his young career – earning his move to Madrid in the summer of 2023.
Since then, in almost two seasons, he has made just 43 appearances for Madrid, which amounts to 1,530 minutes – an amount which will not help him reach his world-class potential and instead could see him stagnate.
Guler has accumulated nine goals and five assists in this time for Madrid, which is a strong yield that shows his talent, averaging a contribution every 109 minutes. However cannot seem to get a proper chance in the team.
The situation would be very different at United, as Guler would be a starter immediately in the number 10 role, and it could see him flourish with the added pressure and in a system which he suits perfectly.
If this happened, it would be reminiscent of a move Arsenal once made.
Guler could be Martin Odegaard 2.0
The template for Guler to move on from Madrid and become a star elsewhere is already drawn up for him, with Martin Odegaard experiencing the same game time problems at Madrid until he joined Arsenal in 2021.
Since then, the Norwegian has become one of the Premier League’s best players and the Arsenal captain, which Guler should see and envision as something he could replicate at United if he were to make the move for the good of his career.
For United, this would be a massive coup, with Guler one of the best young players in world football, as his stats of creating 4.99 shots per 90 show. Guler also possesses the work rate and intensity Amorim demands, as he wins a lot of tackles.
Guler stats for Real Madrid vs positional peers in Europe’s big five leagues
Stat Per 90 Percentile
Shot creating actions 4.99 84th
Pass completion % 84.8% 95th
Progressive passes 5.94 88th
Progressive carries 2.85 35th
Successful take-ons 1.82 64th
Tackles 1.90 87th
Clearances 1.03 86th
Guler was mocked by Dominik Szoboszlai earlier this week for his lack of game time, so the Turkish wonderkid could also prove the Hungarian wrong by moving to Liverpool’s biggest rivals and becoming a star – which we would back him to do.
Madrid is unlikely to give Guler his chance with so many options in attack who are already world-class. So, United should test Madrid with a £40m offer this summer and secure a player that could become a superstar in Amorim’s system.
