The Buffalo Bills last season were one of the most consistent teams in football en route to an AFC Championship appearance.
A 13-4 regular-season record, along with two playoff wins thanks to one of the best offenses in football led by one of the best quarterbacks in football, the Bills once again met their kryptonite in the Kansas City Chiefs.
A three-point loss for Josh Allen and the Bills made it four consecutive times that Buffalo's season has ended at the hands of Patrick Mahomes.
Allen was named NFL MVP for his 2024 exploits. This offseason, his offensive coordinator, Joe Brady, is sticking around, and most of the offense's key pieces are also being retained, along with Joshua Palmer being signed in free agency.
But for CBS Sports, when naming the five quarterbacks under the most pressure to deliver a Super Bowl, Allen came in at No. 1 with one glaring reason as to why.
"How close does Josh Allen have to get to win a Super Bowl? For as good as Allen has been in the playoffs, he still hasn't been able to defeat Mahomes and the Chiefs," CBS Sports writes. "Allen has put the Bills in position to win a championship. Once Buffalo gets past Kansas City, the Bills may be on their way toward finally hoisting the Vince Lombardi Trophy. There's so much pressure on Allen when he plays the Chiefs, which is why he's under more pressure than any quarterback to win in 2025."
Is that fair? We think so.
Allen and the Bills seem to have little trouble getting to the playoffs; they even beat the Baltimore Ravens last season, but when it comes to the Chiefs, it is one team they just can't get past.

For most, that is the thing stopping Buffalo from claiming Super Bowl glory, and seeing the season end four consecutive times at the hands of Kansas City is now a trend.
And if Allen and the Bills want the ultimate glory, they will likely have to go through Mahomes and the Chiefs and you can only imagine the pressure fo that situation. Plus, as the defending MVP, there is even more pressure on Allen's shoulders to finally deliver for the AFC East champs.
