Enzo Fernandez commits his future to Chelsea as Argentina players try to convince him to join other top club

**If there is one player that Enzo Maresca has improved greatly in the time he has been in charge of Chelsea, it is Enzo Fernandez.**

The Argentine has become a far bigger threat in the final third this season, with many of the opinion that he is now playing his best position under the Italian.

With huge Premier League games to come in the race for Champions League qualification, top Chelsea players have jetted off to represent their countries in the final international break of the season.

Fernandez was the pick of the Blues during this time, with two brilliant performances, particularly against Brazil in the dominant 4-1 win.

Despite a number of impressive displays from the World Cup winners, Fernandez was Man of the Match after scoring and assisting in the first half.

It seems as if the national team players are more than aware of his quality, with some of them looking to convince him to make a move at the end of the season.

According to Eduardo Bargos, some Atletico Madrid players pushed for him to join them this summer, however he is committed to remaining at Stamford Bridge.

He said: “Enzo Fernández has reportedly rejected Atlético Madrid. Several players tried to convince him to join the club during this break, but he is determined to stay at Chelsea. He likes London, yes, but all options are open. For now, Atleti isn’t one of them.”

The midfielder’s current contract with Chelsea extends all the way until 2030, with him one of the many Blues who signed a long-term deal amid joining the club.

Maresca named Fernandez one of his vice-captains for this season, with there a clear backing in the 24-year-old to be one of the leaders of the youngest squad in the league.

He has donned the armband on occassion, and his conduct in a recent Premier League game against Leicester showed why he has the potential to become the outright skipper at the club.

After Cole Palmer missed a penalty for the first time in his career, Fernandez was first on the scene to pick his teammate up, knowing how important he would be in them getting the three points.

The Blues won that game 1-0, and will need a lot more of those results if they are to finish in the top five this season.
