Newcastle United Make Isak Decision Amid Arsenal and Liverpool Interest

Alexander Isak has established himself as one of the top strikers in the Premier League since joining Newcastle United. His time with the Magpies might soon come to an end though.

Elite strikers are not readily available, but right now, that seems to be the position where a number of top Premier League clubs need to strengthen at the same time.

As a result, that is expected to drive up transfer fees and lead to multiple clubs being interested in the same player, in this case, Isak.

According to CaughtOffside, Newcastle United have temporarily paused contract talks with Isak after he didn't accept their initial proposals. The Magpies are now set to reassess and plan their next move amid growing interest from Arsenal and Liverpool in the Swedish striker.

Isak has proven himself as a top striker at Newcastle United. He has scored 23 goals across all competitions so far this season, including 19 in the Premier League.

He is the man for the big moments as well, as he found the back of the net in the League Cup final against Liverpool, helping end Newcastle United's long wait for silverware. Other than that, he scored against Arsenal and Chelsea in the competition.

Even though Liverpool are marching towards the Premier League title, they clearly need a freescoring striker in the long run, with Darwin Nunez failing to prove himself as that guy.

On the other hand, a striker might be the one last thing that Mikel Arteta's team need to finally start seriously competiting for and winning trophies, rather than finishing second-best every time.
